Welcome
to the online component of Algebra 2nd Half.
In this area you will find logins for students and parents to check on
student progress and tests.
This
is a work in process and there is no guarantee that it will always be "up
to date."
Here
you will find the "planned" lesson plans for the semester posted and
periodic updates of plans the class is working on. This class is designed to meet the needs of our students and
plans will change to meet the needs of all students.
Grades
are based on a students ability to master the state standards and complete the
classroom requirements. IF you are
enrolled in this class and you can already meet these standards, I am more than
happy to have you "test out' of the class, give you a passing grade and
have you work on material which meets your needs.
IF
you are struggling with math (as most students are) do not give up! If you can come close to meeting standards
and turn in your work you will pass this class.
Grades
in this class are based on effort and tests.
Homework should not exceed an hour or two outside of class. PLEASE see me IF you are putting an
excessive time into homework (more than two hours per week) and we will work on
an appropriate solution. IF you fail to
turn in homework or take notes in class you will have difficulty passing.
The
following sites will be used in this class:

Computer
Tests:
Presently
there are a number of tests posted on quiz lab which you are required to
take. These must be taken on
"class time" and must be supervised.
Your grade on these tests are primarily based on completion and your supporting notes. You may use the computer calculator for
these tests but you must also show your
work on separate notes. Failing to
do so will result in loss of points I
am not interested if you guessed a right answer or got the answer from a
neighbor (cheating). I need to know
what you know, in order to make sure you learn what the state will require you
to know in order to pass the state high school exit exam. IF you complete the assigned exam and
provide complete notes you will earn no less than a C. IF you get all the answers right and provide
no supporting notes you will only receive half of your points (50%) and you
will have failed the test
1st computer Test- go to Quizlab and take the "Fractional Skills Test"
To get there you need to enter the
teacher class login of scm
Then yiou need to login the first two letters of
your last name and the first letter of your first name: for example- If your name is Joey Smith your
password becomes smj
So, to get into your test you will need to login
under scm and smj
Projects
You
need to turn in your "rough draft" by February 28. IF the one you are working on isn't cutting
it, then I strongly suggest you select one from mathforum (highlighted above).
